Algiers – A joint sectoral committee has been officially inaugurated to implement presidential directives aimed at modernizing the management of primary schools across Algeria. The establishment of this committee follows a government meeting held on November 18th.
The Minister of National Education, Mohamed Seghir Saadaoui, alongside the Minister of Interior, Local Authorities, and Urban Planning, Said Sayoud, presided over the official installation ceremony on Wednesday evening at the Ministry of National Education headquarters. This initiative is a direct response to President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s instructions to enhance the physical environment, improve services, and strengthen overall learning conditions within primary schools.
The newly formed committee comprises officials from the Ministries of Education and Interior, as well as representatives from the Ministries of Finance, Labor, Employment, and Social Security. This diverse representation aims to ensure a comprehensive and well-rounded approach to the transfer and development of school management.
During the meeting, both ministers urged committee members to identify existing obstacles hindering the smooth operation of primary schools in various aspects. They emphasized the need to propose practical solutions that facilitate a gradual and phased transfer of school management oversight from the Ministry of Interior to the Ministry of National Education. The ultimate goal is to improve performance in the short and medium term.
The ministers also stressed the urgency of addressing priority issues, particularly those related to the provision of cleaning and security personnel, facility maintenance, and the management of school canteens. Furthermore, they highlighted the importance of addressing financial and organizational aspects to ensure a seamless transition.
This comprehensive effort aims to develop a practical action plan that enhances the efficiency of primary school management and guarantees optimal learning conditions and high-quality support services for Algerian students. DZWatch will continue to follow this developing story.
