A new joint ministerial committee has been established to monitor and improve the operational efficiency of primary schools across the nation. The committee’s formation follows directives from President Abdelmadjid Tebboune aimed at enhancing the material conditions and services provided within primary education.
The Minister of National Education, Mohamed Seghir Saadaoui, and the Minister of Interior, Local Authorities, and Transport, Said Sayoud, jointly inaugurated the committee. The inauguration, held at the Ministry of Education headquarters, is a direct result of a government meeting held on November 18th.
The newly formed committee comprises officials from the Ministries of National Education, Interior, Local Authorities, and Transport, as well as representatives from the Ministries of Finance, and Labour, Employment, and Social Security.
During the inauguration, both ministers instructed the committee members to identify challenges hindering the smooth operation of primary schools. They are tasked with formulating proposals that include mechanisms to ensure a partial and phased transfer of primary school management responsibilities from the Ministry of Interior, Local Authorities, and Transport to the Ministry of National Education.
Furthermore, the committee is expected to urgently address priority areas such as ensuring the availability of service personnel responsible for cleaning, security, facility maintenance, and school canteen management. The committee will also examine financial and organizational aspects to develop a practical plan for improving primary school management, ultimately enhancing the overall educational process.
The focus remains on creating a better learning environment for Algeria’s youngest students.
