Algiers, December 3, 2025 – The Algerian stock market is poised to implement a fully electronic system for processing buy and sell orders before the end of December, according to an announcement made today by Youssef Bouzenada, Chairman of the Stock Market Operations and Monitoring Committee.
Speaking at a national technical meeting in Algiers, bringing together key players in the financial market, Bouzenada emphasized that this digital shift will significantly accelerate operations and enhance transparency within the market. He stated that the unified system is ready for deployment, following the completion of the necessary legal and regulatory framework. Bouzenada hailed the digitization of orders as a pivotal moment in the modernization of the stock exchange and its attractiveness to investors.
The Chairman also called for greater engagement between the stock exchange and economic institutions of all sizes, aiming to educate them about the opportunities and advantages of direct financing, particularly in areas such as growth, governance, and transparency. He stressed the importance of transitioning the financial market from a secondary role to a central driver of national development.
Bouzenada highlighted key reforms implemented since 2023, including the launch of the general stock exchange system and the adoption of remote voting in general assemblies. These measures have strengthened investor rights and corporate governance. Furthermore, the new investment fund system has come into effect, incorporating more sophisticated financing tools.
The meeting, organized in coordination with the Algiers Stock Exchange and ‘Algeria Clearing,’ aims to bolster the performance of market participants and refine their intervention tools. It also focuses on supporting companies and increasing market liquidity. Bouzenada described the event as a foundational workshop for charting a roadmap for the future and overcoming existing challenges.
