Public Works and Interior Ministries Coordinate to Fix Non-Compliant Speed Bumps

Algiers – The Ministries of Public Works and Interior are working together to address the issue of substandard speed bumps across the country. Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure, Abdelkader Djellaoui, announced today that his ministry is coordinating with the Ministry of Interior, Local Authorities, and Transport, as well as with local governors (walis), to rehabilitate speed bumps that do not meet established standards.

The initiative aims to improve road safety and traffic flow by ensuring that speed bumps are properly designed and constructed. Minister Djellaoui emphasized that the focus will be on both national highways and urban roads. Any speed bumps found to be built haphazardly or without proper authorization will be removed entirely.

“Our priority is the safety of all road users,” stated Minister Djellaoui. “We are committed to ensuring that all traffic calming measures are implemented in a way that is both effective and compliant with national regulations.”

The coordinated effort between the ministries reflects a commitment to improving infrastructure and addressing concerns raised by citizens regarding poorly constructed speed bumps. The initiative is expected to result in safer roads and a more consistent driving experience for motorists throughout Algeria. The National People’s Assembly has also been involved in discussions regarding the implementation of these measures.

This joint project underscores the government’s dedication to enhancing public safety and improving the quality of life for its citizens through strategic infrastructure management.
