The Minister of Internal Trade, Amel Abdelatif, emphasized the crucial role of Algerian farmers in achieving national food security and driving economic development. Her remarks were made during celebrations marking the 51st anniversary of the National Union of Algerian Farmers (UNFA).
Minister Abdelatif joined the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Yacine Oualid, and the Minister of Water Resources, Taha Derbal, alongside the Wali of the state, Larbi Bahloul, and the Secretary-General of UNFA, Abdelatif Dilmi, as well as members of parliament, local authorities, and representatives of professional organizations. The event, according to a ministry statement, highlighted the UNFA’s longstanding contribution to the agricultural sector.
In her address, Minister Abdelatif underscored the pivotal role the UNFA has played since its inception, serving as a strong support system for farmers and a key contributor to the nation’s food security objectives. She affirmed that the Union is an essential partner in developing national agriculture and empowering professionals to serve the national economy.
Minister Abdelatif directly addressed the farmers present, commending their efforts and daily sacrifices, stressing that their contributions are vital in maintaining a stable and abundant supply of agricultural products. She emphasized that farmers have consistently demonstrated their ability to increase production, improve product quality, and diversify agricultural chains, thereby enhancing Algeria’s position in both domestic and international markets.
“The government, under the guidance of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, places great importance on the agricultural sector to achieve food security,” the Minister stated. “The presence of the Ministry of Internal Trade and Market Regulation, alongside fellow ministers and various professional organizations, underscores our commitment to supporting farmers and bolstering national production.”
