Strong Winds Expected to Hit Several Algerian Provinces

Algiers – Several provinces across Algeria are bracing for strong winds exceeding 80 kilometers per hour, commencing this evening, DZWatch has learned.

The national meteorological service issued a special weather advisory earlier today, Friday, warning of the impending weather disturbance. The advisory indicates that the strong winds are expected to begin around 3:00 PM local time and persist until 6:00 AM on Saturday. Intermittent gusts of considerable strength are forecast throughout the night.

The provinces specifically named in the weather warning include Tiaret, El Bayadh, Laghouat, Djelfa, M’Sila, Batna, Biskra, and Ouled Djellal. Residents in these areas are urged to take necessary precautions.

Authorities are particularly concerned about potential hazards in open areas and along major highways. Reduced visibility due to blowing sand and dust is anticipated, posing a risk to motorists and pedestrians alike. The meteorological service is advising citizens to exercise extreme caution, especially when traveling or engaging in outdoor activities.

DZWatch will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.
