Um El Bouaghi, Algeria – Algeria has commenced exporting pharmaceutical and para-pharmaceutical products to both the Sultanate of Oman and the People’s Republic of China. This marks a significant development for the Algerian pharmaceutical industry, highlighting its growing capacity and ambition to expand its presence in international markets.
The initial shipment, dispatched on Thursday, represents a collaborative economic vision aimed at bolstering regional pharmaceutical security and fostering new avenues for Arab and Asian cooperation. The IMGSA group oversaw the export of a diverse range of pharmaceutical products to Oman, coinciding with the signing of two new agreements designed to deepen the partnership between the two nations.
Omani Ambassador to Algeria, Saif Rashid Al-Badai, hailed the export as a “very positive initiative,” emphasizing that it was the culmination of extensive efforts and broad collaboration between various organizations. He added, “We see significant investment opportunities in Algeria, and cooperation between our countries is constantly evolving.”
Simultaneously, preparations are underway for the first shipment of natural rubber from Algeria to China. This demonstrates the ability of Algerian industries to meet international demand and compete in specialized sectors. A representative from the Chinese side expressed optimism, stating, “We are witnessing the first export operation from Algeria to China, and we anticipate expanded cooperation in the coming period.”
According to the Director General of IMGSA, the shipments include two containers destined for Oman, and an initial container en route to China, with a second to follow within ten days. A third shipment is also planned for Yemen. Furthermore, the Chinese partner has requested an annual supply of 500 tons of liquid calcium carbonate, delivered in monthly shipments.
These developments underscore the qualitative leap being made by the Algerian pharmaceutical industry, solidifying its position in international supply chains and opening new horizons for national exports.
