Mascara, Algeria – The first national forum dedicated to veteran leaders of the Algerian Islamic Scouts commenced today in Mascara. The event, named after Emir Abdelkader, founder of the modern Algerian state, seeks to honor and celebrate the contributions of seasoned scouting professionals.
The forum coincides with the 193rd anniversary of the first pledge of allegiance to Emir Abdelkader. Organizers stated that the timing is significant, aiming to connect the values of patriotism, leadership, and community service embodied by Emir Abdelkader with the mission of the Algerian Islamic Scouts.
The event brings together experienced scout leaders from across the country. The program includes a series of workshops, discussions, and presentations focused on the history of the scouting movement in Algeria, best practices in leadership development, and strategies for engaging young people in civic life.
“This forum provides a valuable opportunity for us to learn from each other, share our experiences, and renew our commitment to the principles of scouting,” said one participant, a scout leader from Oran with over 30 years of experience. “Emir Abdelkader’s legacy serves as an inspiration for us to continue building a better future for our country.”
The forum is expected to conclude with a set of recommendations for strengthening the Algerian Islamic Scouts and enhancing its impact on communities throughout Algeria. Organizers expressed hope that the event will become an annual tradition, fostering collaboration and innovation within the scouting movement.
The Algerian Islamic Scouts have played a vital role in shaping the character and values of generations of young Algerians, promoting civic responsibility, and instilling a sense of national pride.
