BOUJDOUR REFUGEE CAMPS – President of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), Brahim Ghali, has affirmed the unwavering commitment of the Sahrawi people to continue their struggle for freedom and independence. His statement underscores the enduring resolve of the Sahrawi people in their pursuit of self-determination.
Speaking from the Boujdour refugee camps, President Ghali emphasized that the Sahrawi people will not relent in their efforts until they achieve full sovereignty over Western Sahara. “Our fight for freedom will continue with unwavering determination,” he declared. “We will not rest until the Sahrawi flag flies freely over our independent nation.”
The President’s remarks come at a time of renewed focus on the Western Sahara issue. The Sahrawi people have been engaged in a decades-long struggle for self-determination, following the withdrawal of Spanish colonial forces. The core issue is the status of Western Sahara, which remains a disputed territory. The United Nations recognizes the Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination.
The Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, declared in 1976, represents the aspirations of the Sahrawi people for an independent state. The refugee camps near Tindouf, Algeria, have become home to thousands of Sahrawi refugees who fled the conflict. These camps have become symbols of resilience and the enduring hope for a free and independent Western Sahara.
President Ghali’s statement serves as a powerful reminder of the Sahrawi people’s dedication to achieving their long-sought goal of independence. The pursuit of freedom remains at the heart of their struggle.
