Algiers, December 7, 2025 – A major police operation in Algiers has led to the dismantling of several national networks specializing in car theft. The operation, conducted by the Algiers Judicial Police Department, targeted criminal groups with activities spanning across the country.
According to a statement released by the National Security Directorate, the investigation was initiated following a series of complaints filed by citizens reporting the theft of their vehicles from various locations.
Under the supervision of the competent regional Public Prosecutor’s Office, and aided by advanced technical resources, law enforcement officers successfully identified and apprehended the individuals involved. The investigation culminated in a series of coordinated raids.
The operation resulted in the arrest of eleven individuals suspected of involvement in the car theft rings. Furthermore, authorities recovered twenty-three stolen vehicles. A significant amount of evidence was also seized, including forged administrative documents, counterfeit license plates, and tools commonly used in vehicle theft.
