Algeria’s Higher Education Ministry Backs 96 Student Startup Projects

Algiers, Algeria – The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has approved funding for 96 student-led entrepreneurial projects across various universities nationwide, DZWatch has learned.

The approval, spanning from October 26th to November 6th, highlights the growing momentum of university-based entrepreneurship and underscores students’ increasing engagement in creating their own startups, according to a ministry statement.

These innovative projects cover a wide range of sectors, including industry, agriculture, services, healthcare, construction, public works, sports, tourism, pharmaceuticals, communications, and freelance professions. The selected projects originate from universities in Setif, Relizane, Bechar, Oran, Oum El Bouaghi, El Tarf, Annaba, Tipaza, Ain Temouchent, M’Sila, Boumerdes, Saida, Naama, Tlemcen, Algiers, Sidi Bel Abbes, Batna, Blida, Muaskar, Mostaganem, Tissemsilt, Guelma, and Souk Ahras, demonstrating a broad geographical reach across the country.

This investment in student innovation reflects the government’s commitment to supporting young entrepreneurs and diversifying the Algerian economy.
