Adrar: Drug Trafficking Ring Busted, Three Arrested

Adrar, Algeria – A targeted operation by the Research and Intervention Brigade (B.R.I.) in Adrar has resulted in the arrest of three individuals, including one woman, suspected of involvement in a drug trafficking network. The operation underscores ongoing efforts to combat organized crime in the region.

During the raid, authorities seized 370 grams of cocaine, a highly addictive and dangerous narcotic. Additionally, four capsules of pregabalin 300mg, reportedly of foreign origin, were confiscated. Pregabalin is a prescription medication often misused for its sedative and euphoric effects.

A substantial sum of money, totaling 1,090,000 Algerian dinars, was also recovered. Investigators believe the funds are proceeds from illegal drug sales. The operation further yielded drug paraphernalia, including scales used for weighing narcotics and four mobile phones, likely used for coordinating drug transactions.

“This successful operation demonstrates the unwavering commitment of Adrar security services to dismantling organized crime networks and curbing the spread of narcotics,” a local security official stated. “Our priority remains protecting the community and ensuring the safety and security of all citizens.”

The arrested individuals are currently in custody and are expected to face charges related to drug trafficking and possession. The investigation is ongoing to identify any additional individuals involved in the criminal enterprise.

This bust represents a significant blow to drug trafficking operations in the Adrar region and highlights the effectiveness of law enforcement efforts in combating organized crime.
