Algiers, Algeria – Minister of Communication, Zouhair Bouamama, met with the Somali Minister of Communications and Technology, Mohamed Aden Maalim, at the Ministry headquarters earlier today. The meeting focused on exploring potential avenues for media partnership and collaboration between the two nations.
Minister Maalim is currently in Algeria to participate in the African Day of Communications events and the African Ministerial Forum on Digital Platforms. The discussions provided a valuable opportunity to delve into the prospects of bilateral cooperation in the fields of media and communication.
The meeting underscores the growing momentum in Algerian-Somali relations, particularly following the official visit of Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud to Algeria from November 10th to 12th. This visit has paved the way for strengthened ties across various sectors, including communication and information sharing.
Both ministers expressed optimism about the potential for future collaboration, highlighting the importance of media in fostering understanding and cooperation between the two countries. The discussions centered on potential joint projects and initiatives aimed at enhancing media capacity and promoting cultural exchange. Specific areas of interest included training programs for journalists, content sharing agreements, and the development of digital media platforms.
Minister Bouamama reiterated Algeria’s commitment to supporting Somalia’s efforts in developing its media landscape and expressed hope that the partnership would contribute to the overall strengthening of bilateral relations.
