Algiers, December 9, 2025 – Algeria is set to launch a groundbreaking Algerian-African training program focused on fostering green entrepreneurship among young Africans. The announcement was made by the Minister of Environment and Quality of Life, Kouther Krikou, during a scientific session dedicated to supporting emerging environmental enterprises.
The initiative, themed “Green Innovation: Sustainable Environmental Development,” was unveiled on the sidelines of the fourth edition of the African Conference for Startups, held at the Abdellatif Rahal International Conference Center. Minister Krikou emphasized that the program aims to equip young African innovators with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in the burgeoning field of ecological entrepreneurship.
In collaboration with the Ministry of Knowledge Economy, the Ministry of Environment and Quality of Life will oversee the implementation of this comprehensive training program. The program will leverage the resources and expertise of the National Institute for Environmental Training to cultivate innovation and promote environmentally sound business practices. The curriculum will be continuously updated to reflect the latest advancements in environmental innovation.
According to Minister Krikou, the program will be financed by the Fund for Financing Startups and Young Innovators in Africa. The National Institute for Environmental Training will be responsible for delivering the training.
During the scientific session, which brought together numerous startups operating in the environmental sector, Minister Krikou reaffirmed the sector’s commitment to training and supporting innovative startups. She highlighted the role of institutions under the ministry’s supervision, such as the National Institute for Environmental Training, in developing solutions that contribute to the protection and development of natural resources.
Minister Krikou stated that Algeria, under the leadership of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, has become a leading model in supporting young people and environmental project holders. This is due to a deep understanding of the importance of sustainability in the global economy, and through the strengthening of the legislative and regulatory framework, opening horizons towards a sustainable world in harmony with the youth of the world in general, and Africa in particular.
