Algiers, Algeria – Stellantis Algeria has signed a significant agreement with Icam Auto Industry, a specialist in braking systems, to supply locally manufactured brake pads for Fiat vehicles. The deal marks a crucial step in boosting local production and integration within Algeria’s automotive industry.
According to a company statement, this agreement aligns with the broader strategy to incorporate locally sourced components into Fiat vehicles assembled in Algeria. This initiative potentially extends to supplying the Fiat plant in Tafraoui, Oran province.
Icam Auto Industry’s products have earned international safety and quality certifications, paving the way for this collaboration with Stellantis Algeria. Stellantis aims to cultivate a competitive and integrated automotive ecosystem within Algeria.
The company’s vision is to achieve a local integration rate exceeding 30% by 2026. This will enable Algeria to export vehicles to markets across the Middle East and Africa. The partnership highlights the growing capabilities of Algerian manufacturers and their contribution to the country’s automotive sector. The move is expected to create jobs and stimulate economic growth within the local supply chain.
