Bratislava – The Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf, has declared the opening of the Algerian embassy in Bratislava a “historic moment” in the relationship between Algeria and Slovakia.
In a statement released today, Minister Attaf emphasized that this move reflects the shared political will to elevate the partnership between the two nations to broader horizons. He also conveyed Algeria’s appreciation for Slovakia’s decision to reopen its embassy in Algiers, viewing it as a clear demonstration of mutual trust.
The Minister noted that the new Slovak ambassador recently conveyed his country’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations. This sentiment was echoed by the President of Algeria, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, who has expressed his strong support for expanding cooperation between the two countries across various sectors.
Attaf highlighted that despite the geographical distance and differing cultural contexts, Algeria and Slovakia share fundamental values, including respect for national sovereignty, non-interference in internal affairs, adherence to international law, and support for a multilateral system.
The Foreign Minister outlined key areas for future cooperation, including:
- Strengthening political dialogue based on mutual trust.
- Expanding economic cooperation in energy, industry, agriculture, and modern technologies.
- Promoting cultural and human exchanges, particularly among young people.
Minister Attaf concluded by affirming that the Algerian embassy in Bratislava will serve as a vital bridge connecting the two peoples, and as a platform for enhancing cooperation and partnership in a manner that serves the mutual interests of both Algeria and Slovakia. He reiterated the strong friendship and mutual respect between the two nations.
