CR Belouizdad Protests Refereeing in Algiers Derby

Algiers, Algeria – Club Belouizdad (CRB) has issued a strong statement condemning the refereeing performance during their delayed Week 1 match against MC Alger in the Ligue 1 Mobilis. The club specifically took issue with the officiating of referee H. Fatih.

In an official statement released earlier today, CRB management asserted that referee H. Fatih made several “influential decisions that created a clear injustice towards the team and its players, directly impacting the course of the match.”

The club further stated that their players were shown yellow cards in an “inconsistent manner and without a clear standard, disrupting the game’s discipline and affecting player concentration.” The statement highlighted concerns about the application of Video Assistant Referee (VAR), arguing that “lengthy VAR reviews disrupted the flow of the match and broke the rhythm of play.” CRB also noted the presence of projectiles thrown onto the field, which “obstructed the players’ vision and directly impacted the match, without any decisive intervention to stop these violations.”

CRB management also pointed to the limited amount of actual play during the announced eight minutes of stoppage time. “Only three minutes of actual play occurred during the eight minutes of added time, a surprising and controversial decision,” the statement read. They also alleged that balls were thrown onto the field by ball retrievers without halting play, “a blatant violation of the rules, undermining the principle of fairness and directly affecting the course of the match and our team’s rights.”

The club urged the relevant authorities to carefully examine these alleged violations and take the necessary measures to ensure fairness and equal opportunities for all clubs, with full respect for official laws and regulations. CR Belouizdad reaffirmed its commitment to defending its rights and interests through all legal frameworks.

The Algiers derby is one of the most anticipated matches in Algerian football, and this controversy is sure to fuel further debate and discussion among fans and analysts alike.
