Algeria Announces National Competition for Future Judges

Algiers, Algeria – December 10, 2025 – The Ministry of Justice has announced the opening of a national competition to recruit 500 student judges for the year 2025. This initiative aims to bolster the Algerian judicial system with a new generation of legal professionals.

According to the official decree, registration for the competition will be open from January 18 to January 29, 2026. The entrance examinations are scheduled to take place in April 2026. Candidates are strongly encouraged to adhere to the specified deadlines.

The Ministry has outlined specific eligibility criteria for those aspiring to join the judiciary. Applicants must:

  • Hold Algerian citizenship.
  • Be between 27 and 40 years of age at the time of the competition.
  • Possess a secondary education baccalaureate.
  • Hold a Master’s degree in Law or an equivalent qualification.
  • Have met the requirements for national service.
  • Demonstrate the physical and mental aptitude necessary for the judicial profession.
  • Enjoy full civil and national rights and possess good moral character.
  • Not have been previously dismissed or resigned from the Higher School of Judiciary.

The registration process involves two key stages: an initial online registration and a final submission of documents.

The initial online registration requires candidates to visit the website of the Higher School of Judiciary or the Ministry of Justice. They must create an email account (if they don’t already have one), complete the online registration form, download and print it, and download, print, and sign the declaration of honor. A preparatory guide will also be available for download.

The final registration stage involves the personal submission of the required documents to the Judicial Council within the applicant’s district of residence. This file must include the initial registration form and the signed declaration of honor, confirming the accuracy of the information provided and the fulfillment of the required physical and mental fitness standards. Applicants should ensure all documents are accurately completed and submitted before the deadline.

The Ministry of Justice encourages all eligible and interested candidates to apply and contribute to the future of justice in Algeria.
