Algiers, Algeria – National team coach Vladimir Petkovic is set to announce the official squad list for Algeria’s participation in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The announcement will be made during a press conference scheduled for this Saturday at the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Baraki.
The Algerian Football Federation confirmed the press conference, which will take place in the “Mohamed Salah” conference room, commencing at 3:00 PM local time. Football fans across the nation eagerly await the unveiling of the players who will represent Les Verts in the continental tournament.
The coach opted to postpone the squad announcement until after the quarter-final match of the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025, where Algeria will face the United Arab Emirates. This match is scheduled for Friday at Al Bayt Stadium.
Following the announcement, the national team will commence a preparatory training camp on Monday at the National Technical Center in Sidi Moussa. The team will then depart for the host country on December 19th via a special flight.
This preparation follows Algeria’s friendly victories in November against Zimbabwe (3-1) in Algiers and Saudi Arabia (2-0) in Jeddah. Algeria is drawn into Group E alongside Burkina Faso, Equatorial Guinea, and Sudan.
Les Fennecs will begin their AFCON campaign on December 24th against Sudan, followed by a match against Burkina Faso on December 28th, and concluding the group stage against Equatorial Guinea on December 31st. The top two teams from each group, along with the four best third-placed teams, will advance to the round of 16.
