The White House has once again addressed the reason behind President Donald Trump’s recent appearance with a bandage on his right hand. The explanation centers around the President’s frequent handshaking.
Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, when questioned about the bandage, stated, “We’ve provided an explanation previously. The President is constantly shaking hands with people.” This echoes a similar justification given months ago when President Trump’s right hand appeared swollen.
Leavitt added that President Trump takes daily aspirin as a preventative measure for cardiovascular health. She suggested this could contribute to the bruising that has been observed. This explanation was also offered prior to Trump, 79, being seen wearing the bandage, such as during an event in Washington this past Sunday.
Health has become a sensitive topic, particularly for Trump, who is the oldest elected President in US history. He has frequently accused his Democratic predecessor, Joe Biden, of cognitive decline and being unfit for office.
On Tuesday evening, Trump responded to media reports questioning his health with an angry post on his social media platform, Truth Social, calling the reports “inflammatory, and perhaps treasonous.”
Trump’s health has been under increased scrutiny following observations of him appearing to struggle to stay awake during several events, as well as undergoing an MRI scan as part of additional medical examinations last October. The President’s team insists he is in excellent health and fit for office. However, concerns persist among some observers.
