Algiers, December 12, 2025 – Algeria has expressed satisfaction following the recent signing of a military cooperation agreement with Tunisia. The agreement, finalized in October 2025, is viewed as a significant step forward in strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing security cooperation between the two nations.
Prime Minister Sifi Ghrib lauded the “exceptional and qualitative” level of Algerian-Tunisian relations during the opening session of the 23rd Grand Joint Algerian-Tunisian Commission for Cooperation. He emphasized the substantial progress made in cooperation, driven by the strong commitment of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and Tunisian President Kais Saied to elevate the relationship to a strategic and integrated partnership.
Ghrib stated that the partnership should reflect the shared history and sacrifices of both nations, fulfilling their aspirations for greater integration and mutual benefit. He added, “Our cooperation and partnership have reached a level of maturity and experience that allows us to communicate as brothers and neighbors, with the necessary objectivity to reinforce what is positive and beneficial for both parties, and to correct what falls short, through innovative and adapted mechanisms that overcome any obstacles hindering the realization of our shared ambitions in various fields.”
The Prime Minister highlighted the increasing trade volume between Algeria and Tunisia, which reached $2.30 billion in 2024. He stressed that “enhancing trade must be linked to similar momentum in promoting investment partnerships between the two countries.” He underscored the urgent need to intensify communication between investors and entrepreneurs from both nations, establishing institutional and legal frameworks that adapt to local economic changes and international transformations, thereby fostering a genuine dynamic for partnership.
The military cooperation agreement and continued economic collaboration underscore the deepening ties between Algeria and Tunisia, solidifying their commitment to regional stability and mutual prosperity.
