Oran, Algeria – Minister of Water Resources, Taha Derbal, emphasized the critical importance of ensuring stable water supplies for the Oran region during a working visit. He stressed that providing consistent access to potable water is a top priority for the sector.

He highlighted the need to diversify water sources through optimal utilization of desalination plants, groundwater resources, and dams. Furthermore, he advocated for interconnecting water networks to establish a reserve capable of covering any potential emergencies.
Minister Derbal also underscored the importance of encouraging supplementary investments that would enhance the region’s water security and improve service reliability. He emphasized the necessity of continuous coordination among technical departments, particularly with the water management company, to ensure regular water supply and improve the quality of public service.

He affirmed that adhering to completion deadlines and following international technical standards are essential to ensure project quality and protect public funds.
The Minister noted the significant investments the state has made in the water resources sector, adding that citizens have the right to see the tangible impact of these efforts.
