Algiers, DZWatch – Algeria and Tunisia have solidified their bilateral cooperation with the signing of 25 strategic agreements, marking a new era in relations between the two nations. The agreements, finalized during the 23rd session of the Joint Algerian-Tunisian High Commission held in Tunis, span a wide array of sectors crucial to both economies.
The signing ceremony, overseen by Algerian Prime Minister Sifi Gherib and Tunisian Head of Government Sarah Zaafarani Zenzri, underscores the commitment of both countries to deepen collaboration across diverse fields. These include energy (including renewable sources), finance, industry, pharmaceutical production, fisheries, water resources, transportation, investment, social solidarity, communication, employment, culture, health, vocational training, and youth and sports.
Key agreements include:
- Cooperation in combating money laundering, terrorism financing, and proliferation of weapons of mass destruction in the insurance sector.
- Collaboration in accreditation standards between the Algerian Accreditation Body and the Tunisian National Accreditation Council.
- Framework agreement for cooperation between Algerian Water Company and the National Water Exploitation and Distribution Company of Tunisia.
- Cooperation between the Algerian Chamber of Fisheries and Aquaculture and the Joint Tunisian Fisheries Products Group.
- Framework agreement between the National Irrigation and Drainage Office of Algeria and the General Directorate of Rural Engineering and Water Exploitation in Tunisia.
- Twinning and cooperation agreement between the Algerian Public Broadcasting Corporation and Tunisian Radio.
- Joint operation of regular international passenger transport lines between the Public Economic Corporation for Transport and Services in Algeria and the National Intercity Transport Company in Tunisia.
- Cooperation agreement in the field of employment.
- Twinning agreement between the General Labor Inspectorate of Algeria and the General Authority for Labor and Professional Relations in Tunisia.
- Agreement between the National Institute for Vocational Training and Education in Algiers and a training center in Tunisia.
These agreements are expected to foster stronger economic ties, facilitate knowledge sharing, and promote joint ventures that will benefit both Algerian and Tunisian citizens. The comprehensive scope of the agreements demonstrates a shared vision for a prosperous and interconnected future.
