Ben Guerina: MAK is a Separatist Illusion, War on Algerian Unity

Algiers – Abdelkader Ben Guerina, leader of the National Construction Movement, has reiterated that the MAK organization is a terrorist and separatist entity devoid of any political or historical legitimacy. He stated it lacks any realistic basis to justify its existence or claim to represent any segment of the Algerian people.

Ben Guerina emphasized that Algeria faces challenges reminiscent of old colonial ambitions, albeit with altered methods and facades. He described the MAK project as a desperate attempt to revive colonial aspirations that are forever buried.

The movement leader stressed that calls for the so-called ‘independence of the Kabylie region’ are merely a pathetic act in a play aimed at dragging the country into chaos. He affirmed that raising flags of division on national soil is a red line, and anyone who does so places themselves in direct confrontation with the Algerian nation.

Ben Guerina expressed complete confidence in the security services’ ability to dismantle the organization’s networks and operation labs both inside and outside the country, within the framework of the law. He also praised the role of Algerian diplomacy in confronting those who fuel strife and extortion.

He pointed out that the terrorist organization’s activity coincides with Algeria’s strong return to the international arena, its regaining of its regional role, and its refusal to submit to axes and dictates. This, he argued, has prompted hostile parties to attempt to transfer the confrontation internally by stirring up strife and sowing doubt.

The National Construction Movement leader criticized the positions of some European capitals that, according to him, harbor terrorists and criminals involved in plundering Algerian funds, and then protest when the Algerian judiciary exercises its sovereignty and refuse to cooperate with international arrest warrants.

Ben Guerina affirmed that the current stage requires broad national mobilization – political, partisan, popular, and media – that places national unity above all differences and makes Algeria’s security and stability a red line that cannot be breached. He concluded by affirming that sovereignty is non-negotiable and illusions are not frightening.
