Parliamentary Committee Examines Proposed Traffic Law Revisions

Algiers – The National People’s Assembly’s Transportation, Telecommunications, and Wireless Communications Committee convened on Saturday to continue its review of a proposed law concerning traffic regulations. The committee heard presentations from representatives of the Ministry of Interior, Local Authorities, and Transport, the Ministry of Justice, and the National Gendarmerie.

The session, held on December 13, 2025, focused on analyzing the various provisions of the draft law and assessing its potential impact on road safety and traffic management across the country. The committee members engaged in detailed discussions with the government representatives, seeking clarifications and offering suggestions for improvement.

According to a statement released by the National People’s Assembly, the consultations aimed to ensure that the proposed legislation is comprehensive, effective, and aligned with international best practices in traffic law. The committee is meticulously examining all aspects of the bill, including provisions related to driver licensing, vehicle registration, traffic enforcement, and penalties for violations.
