Nationwide Operations Launched to Reclaim Public Spaces

DZWatch Exclusive: Local authorities across several Algerian provinces have initiated field operations aimed at organizing urban environments, according to a statement released Sunday by the Ministry of Interior, Local Authorities, and Transportation.

The move seeks to restore public spaces and improve the utilization of sidewalks and roads.

The Ministry’s statement highlighted that these operations align with the vision of Interior Minister Said Saayoud to enhance the quality of life and improve the management of urban spaces. They follow directives issued after the national meeting held in early October, which focused on boosting local initiatives for environmental best practices.

These field operations aim to organize public spaces within the urban environment by local authorities.

The statement further elaborated that these operations are part of an approach designed to restore public spaces and optimize the use of sidewalks and roads in accordance with existing laws and regulations. The intended outcome is a more organized and harmonious urban environment.

DZWatch understands that these initiatives are also geared towards improving the aesthetic appeal of cities, facilitating citizen movement, and enhancing hygiene and security conditions. This is all within a comprehensive vision based on organization, prevention, and awareness, ultimately aiming to serve citizens and promote sustainable local development.

The operations are expected to continue in the coming weeks, with authorities focusing on key areas identified as priorities for urban renewal and improved public access.
