The Algerian environmental organization, Algeria Verde, has announced an ambitious project to plant 5 million trees in a single day, scheduled for March 2026. The initiative aims to significantly contribute to reforestation efforts across the country.
According to a statement released by the organization, this national campaign will involve widespread participation from citizens and various stakeholders. The goal is to ensure the success of this large-scale environmental undertaking.
Fouad Maala, President of Algeria Verde, recently met with the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Yacine Mehdi Walid, to discuss strategies for supporting this significant environmental challenge. The discussions centered on securing the necessary logistical and organizational support to guarantee the project’s success.
The organization described the meeting as “highly productive,” emphasizing that coordination with relevant sectors and bodies will be crucial in achieving the ambitious target of planting five million trees in one day in March 2026.
This project builds on the momentum of the successful “Million Trees” campaign held last October. That initiative saw active participation from citizens, the People’s National Army, and numerous associations, resulting in the planting of over one million trees in a single day. Algeria Verde hopes to replicate and exceed that success with this new, larger-scale endeavor.
