Public Works and Basic Infrastructure Minister Abdelkader Djelloui presided over a meeting of the Public Works Sub-Committee today, dedicated to monitoring the progress of the Western Mining Railway project connecting Bechar, Tindouf, and Gara Djebilet. The meeting saw the participation of representatives from all relevant sectors.
According to a statement from the ministry, Minister Djelloui emphasized the need to mobilize all available resources to ensure the completion of remaining works and the full readiness of the project before the end of the current year. He stressed the strategic importance of this railway line for the development of the region and the national economy.
During the meeting, a comprehensive presentation was given, detailing the progress of work on the remaining sections of the railway. This presentation was informed by the Minister’s recent field visits to the provinces of Tindouf, Beni Abbes, and Bechar, where he personally assessed the advancements being made at the construction sites.
The Minister observed that significant progress had been made and that the project was nearing completion, having reached its final stages of implementation. He commended the efforts of the teams involved and urged them to maintain the current momentum.
Minister Djelloui reiterated the importance of continuing work at the same pace, with intensified efforts and constant monitoring at both the central and local levels. He underscored that this vigilance is crucial to guarantee the project’s timely completion and its full operational readiness before the year’s end. The successful delivery of the Western Mining Railway is a key priority for the government.
