Algiers – President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has emphasized the critical need for further regulatory improvements to foster the growth of electronic commerce in Algeria. The President made these remarks during Sunday’s Council of Ministers meeting, highlighting the importance of facilitating digital trade while simultaneously ensuring robust cybersecurity measures.
President Tebboune stressed that simplifying procedures and removing bureaucratic obstacles are essential steps to unlock the full potential of e-commerce. He acknowledged that a thriving digital marketplace can significantly contribute to Algeria’s economic diversification and create new opportunities for businesses and consumers alike.
“E-commerce presents a significant avenue for economic growth, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises,” the President stated, according to sources present at the meeting. “We must ensure that our regulatory environment supports innovation and allows businesses to thrive in the digital age.”
The President also underscored the paramount importance of cybersecurity in the context of expanding e-commerce. He directed relevant government agencies to prioritize the development and implementation of comprehensive cybersecurity protocols to protect both businesses and consumers from online threats.
