Schools to Open During Winter Break for Exam Prep

The Ministry of National Education has announced that middle and high schools will open during the first week of the winter break to provide supplementary educational support for students preparing for the 2026 Brevet d’Enseignement Moyen (BEM) and Baccalaureate exams.

An official communication from the Director-General of Education, addressed to regional education directors, outlines the initiative. The goal is to better support students and ensure they are well-prepared for these important national examinations.

The ministry stated that the support sessions will take various forms, including structured lessons, supervised study sessions, and group revision sessions. Each educational institution will be responsible for creating a schedule that aligns with its specific circumstances and the number of students involved.

The Ministry of National Education urges principals of middle and high schools to emphasize the pedagogical importance of these sessions to both teachers and students. They are also instructed to ensure that parents are fully informed about all organizational aspects of the initiative, encouraging their involvement in their children’s academic progress.

Furthermore, the ministry stressed the need to provide suitable organizational and pedagogical conditions to ensure the success of this program and achieve its intended goals, particularly improving academic performance and exam readiness.

The ministry has requested statistical reports on the organization of these sessions immediately after their completion, with a deadline of Tuesday, December 30, 2025.
