Algiers Highway Project: Push to Meet 2025 Deadline

Algiers, Algeria – The Governor of Algiers, Mohamed Abdenour Rabhi, conducted a site visit on Sunday to inspect the progress of the expressway project linking the Mohamed Boudiaf Olympic Complex and the municipality of Khraicia. The inspection focused on the second section of the project, a 3.5-kilometer stretch between Baba Hassan and Khraicia.

According to a statement from the Wilaya (province) of Algiers, the Governor reviewed various construction sites, starting with the engineering structure of the Dely Ibrahim El Achour interchange. He also examined the new access point to National Road 36, which connects Ouled Fayet and Baba Hassan, along with the engineering structures specific to the expressway leading to Khraicia, and the access point to the municipality of Draria.

Governor Rabhi issued technical directives to ensure the project’s construction adheres to stringent quality and safety standards. He emphasized the need to accelerate the pace of work to bring the expressway into service as quickly as possible for the benefit of citizens. He also stressed the importance of organizing a field visit to facilitate the relocation of a drainage canal, thereby streamlining the construction of the Draria access point towards the AADL Ouad Tarfa district in Draria.

Furthermore, the Governor called for expediting the installation of public lighting poles and directional traffic signs. The overall objective of this project is to expand the capital’s road network and increase its capacity. The new access points aim to alleviate traffic congestion in the area by eliminating intersections at entrances, thus facilitating vehicle access to the expressway towards the Mohamed Boudiaf Complex and, subsequently, Bab El Oued.

The project is slated for completion by December 15, 2025.
