Algeria Advocates for “Effective and Robust” Peace Leadership at UN

New York (United Nations) – Algeria has strongly advocated for an “effective and robust” leadership in global peace efforts. Speaking at the United Nations headquarters in New York on Monday, December 15, 2025, the Deputy Permanent Representative of Algeria to the UN, Toufik El Aid Koudri, emphasized the critical need for a unified approach to achieve lasting peace.

Koudri stated that Algeria, as a staunch defender of multilateralism, firmly believes that the attainment of this objective hinges on the collective commitment of UN member states, united under a common goal and purpose. He highlighted the importance of a strong and decisive leadership capable of navigating complex geopolitical challenges and fostering cooperation among nations.

“The path to sustainable peace requires more than just dialogue; it demands resolute action and a shared vision,” Koudri asserted. “Algeria stands ready to contribute actively to this endeavor, working alongside fellow member states to build a more secure and peaceful world for all.”

The Algerian diplomat further underscored the significance of the UN Security Council in maintaining international peace and security. He emphasized the need for the Council to act decisively and impartially, upholding the principles of the UN Charter and ensuring that all voices are heard in the pursuit of peaceful resolutions to conflicts.

Algeria’s call for a strengthened peace leadership comes at a crucial time, as the world grapples with numerous conflicts and crises that threaten global stability. The nation’s commitment to multilateralism and its unwavering support for the UN system reflect its dedication to building a more just and equitable world order.
