Algiers – A joint ministerial decree, published in the Official Gazette (Issue 82), outlines a list of widely consumed goods eligible for transport cost compensation when destined for Algeria’s southern states. This initiative aims to alleviate the financial burden on suppliers and ensure the stable availability of essential products in these regions.
The decree specifies 33 consumer goods that qualify for the transport subsidy. This measure is designed to counteract the higher transportation costs associated with delivering goods to the southern provinces, which can often lead to increased prices for consumers.
The list of subsidized goods includes a range of basic necessities, such as foodstuffs, hygiene products, and other essential household items. By offsetting the transport expenses, the government hopes to maintain affordable prices and consistent supply in the southern regions.
This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to supporting economic activity and improving living standards in the southern states. It is expected to encourage greater investment and trade in these areas, fostering economic growth and reducing regional disparities.
The implementation of this decree will be closely monitored to assess its effectiveness in achieving its intended goals. Further details regarding the specific procedures for claiming the transport cost compensation will be released by the relevant ministries in the coming weeks.
The decision came into effect on Monday, December 15, 2025.
