Algeria, Egypt Discuss Enhanced Consular Cooperation

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – Algeria and Egypt have held bilateral talks aimed at strengthening consular cooperation and improving services for their respective diaspora communities. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 11th United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) Forum in Riyadh, held December 14-15.

Sofiane Chaib, Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs in charge of the National Community Abroad, met with Nabil Habashi, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Migration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs. The discussions focused on exploring avenues for bolstering bilateral relations, particularly in the consular domain.

A statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlighted that the meeting served as an opportunity to review prospects for enhancing cooperation between Algeria and Egypt. The primary goal is to improve the quality of consular services provided to Algerian and Egyptian citizens living abroad and to better serve their interests.

Both parties exchanged views on modernizing consular services. They also discussed various initiatives and proposals designed to support members of the Algerian and Egyptian communities abroad. Strengthening institutional communication to better address the needs and expectations of expatriates was also a key topic of conversation.
