Chadian Minister Visits Algeria to Boost Energy, Mining Ties

The Minister of Petroleum, Mines, and Geology of Chad, Ndolenodji Alixe Naimbaye, has commenced a working visit to Algeria. The visit, which began Tuesday and extends through Thursday, includes a high-level delegation composed of officials from the Chadian Hydrocarbons Company (SHT), the Chadian Petroleum Company (TPC), the National Mining Exploitation and Marketing Company (SONEMIC), the Petroleum Sector Regulatory Authority (ARSAT), and the Chadian Higher Institute of Petroleum (INSPEM).

The invitation for the visit was extended by the Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines of Algeria, Mohamed Arkab. The Chadian Minister and her delegation were received upon their arrival at Houari Boumediene International Airport by the Secretary of State to the Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines, in charge of Mines, Karima Bekir Tafer.

The primary objective of this visit is to explore opportunities for collaboration and to strengthen partnership relations between Algeria and Chad in the hydrocarbons and mining sectors. It reflects a shared desire to expand bilateral cooperation, which has witnessed increasing momentum in recent years, facilitated by reciprocal visits between senior officials of both countries.

This visit follows the visit of the President of Chad, Mohamed Idriss Déby, to Algeria in September 2025, during which both leaders reaffirmed their strategic commitment to enhancing cooperation, particularly in the hydrocarbons and mining sectors. This underscores the importance of energy and resource partnerships between the two nations.

The itinerary includes a series of official meetings and field visits. These include a working session with the Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines, and a meeting with the Secretary of State in charge of Mines. Discussions with officials from Sonatrach and Sonarem are also planned, along with visits to various energy facilities and training institutes within the sector. The aim is to gain insights into Algerian expertise and to foster technical and institutional cooperation between the two countries. This collaboration could lead to significant advancements in Chad’s energy and mining sectors.
