Algiers, Algeria – The National Office of Meteorology has issued a severe weather alert, forecasting heavy rainfall and snowfall across numerous regions of Algeria starting Wednesday. Residents are urged to take necessary precautions.
According to the official statement, several western and central provinces are expected to experience significant snowfall. These include Tlemcen, Naama, El Bayadh, Laghouat, and Tiaret. Travel in these areas may be hazardous.
A wider range of provinces is under a heavy rainfall advisory. These regions include Oran, Tlemcen, Sidi Bel Abbes, Mascara, Saida, Naama, El Bayadh, Bechar, Tiaret, Djelfa, M’Sila, and Ouled Djellal. Further south, rainfall is also expected in Laghouat, Touggourt, Ghardaia, El Menia, Timimoun, Ouargla, and In Salah.
The meteorological office advises residents in the affected areas to stay informed about weather updates and to avoid unnecessary travel. Drivers should exercise extreme caution on the roads, and individuals living in vulnerable areas should prepare for potential flooding.
