Algiers – Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Sid Ali Zarouki, chaired a coordination meeting with various institutions affiliated with the sector. The meeting focused on securing telecommunications services and supporting preparations related to the entry into service of the Gara Djebilet project, according to a statement released by the ministry on Tuesday.
The meeting underscored the government’s commitment to providing robust and reliable communication infrastructure to support the ambitious Gara Djebilet iron ore mining project. This initiative is considered a cornerstone of Algeria’s economic diversification strategy.
Minister Zarouki emphasized the critical role of telecommunications in ensuring the smooth operation and efficient management of the mine. He stressed the need for seamless connectivity to facilitate data transfer, communication between various departments, and the overall coordination of activities at the site.
Participants discussed various aspects of the telecommunications infrastructure, including the deployment of fiber optic cables, the establishment of mobile network coverage, and the provision of satellite communication solutions. The discussions also addressed the need for redundancy and backup systems to ensure uninterrupted services in case of emergencies.
The meeting concluded with a series of directives aimed at accelerating the implementation of the telecommunications plan and ensuring its alignment with the overall timeline of the Gara Djebilet project.
