Algiers – The Minister of Communication, Mr. Zohir Bouamama, received the Director-General of the National Copyright and Neighboring Rights Office (ONDA), Mr. Samir Thaalebi, in Algiers today, according to a statement released by the ministry.
The meeting, held earlier today, focused on strengthening collaboration between the Ministry of Communication and ONDA. Discussions centered on strategies to enhance the protection of intellectual property rights within the media landscape and to promote a greater understanding of copyright laws among content creators and distributors.
Mr. Bouamama emphasized the importance of safeguarding the rights of authors and artists, highlighting the vital role ONDA plays in fostering a creative environment and ensuring fair compensation for their work. He reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to supporting ONDA’s efforts in combating piracy and illegal distribution of copyrighted material.
Mr. Thaalebi expressed his gratitude for the minister’s support and outlined ONDA’s ongoing initiatives to modernize its operations and improve its services to its members. He also discussed the challenges facing the copyright industry in the digital age and the need for innovative solutions to address these challenges.
