Doha, Qatar – Algeria is continuing its participation in the eleventh session of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption. A high-level official delegation representing various national sectors and bodies, led by the High Authority for Transparency, Prevention and the Fight against Corruption, is representing the nation.
The second day of the conference saw the presence of Ambassador Saleh Attia, Algeria’s Ambassador to Qatar, alongside the Algerian delegation. Representatives from the High Authority and other national sectors actively participated in several plenary sessions and side events. Discussions centered on strengthening mechanisms for preventing corruption, exchanging expertise and best practices, and intensifying international cooperation among countries and anti-corruption bodies.
DZWatch has learned that Algeria’s participation in this session underscores its commitment to transparency and the fight against corruption. It also aims to strengthen Algeria’s role in exchanging experiences and expertise at the international level. The Algerian delegation emphasized the importance of international collaboration in tackling corruption, a global challenge that requires concerted efforts from all nations.
The conference provides a vital platform for countries to share their experiences, learn from each other, and coordinate their efforts in combating corruption. Algeria’s active involvement reflects its dedication to upholding the principles of good governance and accountability. The delegation is expected to present Algeria’s national strategy for combating corruption and highlight the progress made in implementing the UN Convention against Corruption.
The High Authority for Transparency, Prevention and the Fight against Corruption plays a central role in Algeria’s anti-corruption efforts. It is responsible for developing and implementing national policies and strategies, as well as coordinating the activities of various government agencies involved in combating corruption. The Authority also works to raise public awareness about the dangers of corruption and to promote a culture of integrity and transparency.
