Prime Minister Seifi Grib chaired a government meeting today to examine crucial files related to the development of new cities and the advancement of digital transformation, following the President’s directives.
At the beginning of the session, the government reviewed a draft executive decree outlining the procedures for transferring infrastructure and equipment completed within the framework of new city projects to the relevant administrations and institutions. This initiative aims to establish practical mechanisms to improve the performance of public facilities in and around new cities, optimizing their use to ensure they fulfill their intended functions. Ultimately, this will enhance the quality of services provided to citizens and increase the attractiveness of these urban spaces.
Furthermore, the government continued its review of projects aligned with the President’s instructions concerning the implementation of comprehensive digital transformation, recognizing it as a fundamental driver for modernizing administration and improving public performance. In this context, the government examined four key presentations.
The first presentation focused on the progress of digitalization across various ministerial sectors and the achievements in expanding digital services. The second presentation covered the completion and operational launch on September 26th of the second National Data Center, a strategic pillar for strengthening digital sovereignty and securing national data. The third presentation was dedicated to the “Dzair Digital Services” national digital services portal project. This portal represents a significant step towards modern, user-friendly, and efficient administration, providing citizens with unified and secure access to public services via the internet and smartphones, adhering to international standards.
Finally, the government reviewed the status of two strategic, next-generation facilities that form the core of Algeria’s first national cloud computing infrastructure. These facilities are designed to secure and modernize public and economic services by hosting sovereign data and accelerating the pace of digital transformation.
This meeting reflects the public authorities’ commitment to establishing effective governance for structural projects and ensuring integration between the development of new urban areas and the acceleration of digitalization, ultimately serving sustainable development and improving the quality of life for citizens.
