Global Press Highlights Israel’s Actions in Gaza, West Bank

International media outlets are increasingly focusing on Israeli practices impacting Palestinian territories in Gaza and the West Bank. Reports also highlight the formation of a joint military force between Greece and Israel, while simultaneously drawing attention to the international community’s perceived neglect of civilian suffering in Sudan and Ethiopia.

The Guardian newspaper in the UK has criticized the ‘yellow line’ in Gaza, describing it as a ‘deadly border’ for Palestinians within their own land. The report alleges that Israeli officials openly state this line represents Israel’s new boundary. This declaration disregards the original purpose of the yellow line, which was intended as part of a ceasefire agreement. According to The Guardian, the line effectively deprives Palestinians of approximately 60% of their land, confining them to a small area that has been repeatedly targeted by Israeli military actions since the agreement’s inception.

An opinion piece in Haaretz alleges that Israel is preventing displaced Palestinians from returning to their homes in the West Bank. The article claims that tens of thousands have been forced into prolonged displacement, exceeding a year in some cases, due to ongoing Israeli military operations. These Palestinians reportedly feel subjected to collective punishment as home demolitions continue and return is denied under the guise of ‘operational arrangements.’ The report emphasizes that conditions in West Bank camps have become uninhabitable due to extensive building destruction and infrastructure damage.

Meanwhile, the Greek newspaper Tanea reports that senior military officers are actively working to establish a joint rapid response force with Israel, a proposal reportedly viewed favorably by Israeli authorities. According to the report, this force would consist of 2,500 soldiers equipped with ships, aircraft, and other infrastructure, stationed across Rhodes, Karpathos, Cyprus, and Israel. The proposed composition includes 1,000 Israeli soldiers, 1,000 Greek soldiers, and 500 Cypriot soldiers, along with an Israeli air squadron and a Greek air squadron. The strategic implications of this joint force are significant, potentially reshaping the regional security landscape.
