Algeria Strengthens Anti-Corruption Diplomacy in Doha

DOHA – Algeria is actively pursuing a preventative diplomatic strategy, reaffirming its unwavering commitment to combating corruption and promoting integrity at both national and international levels. This commitment was underscored during the 11th session of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption, held in Doha, Qatar.

Professor Salima Messarati, President of the High Authority for Transparency, Prevention and the Fight against Corruption, engaged in numerous bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the conference. These discussions highlight Algeria’s strategic shift towards preventative diplomacy as a key element in its approach to good governance. The country is actively strengthening its institutional presence within international forums, both bilaterally and multilaterally, reflecting its firm commitment to regional and global efforts.

Algeria aims to solidify its position as a central player in the global fight against corruption. The nation is striving to reinforce its leadership role throughout this UN conference, which spans from December 15th to 19th, by building high-quality partnerships based on coordination, integration, and the exchange of expertise.

A significant meeting took place between Professor Messarati and Minister Amr Adel Hosni, Head of the Administrative Control Authority of the Arab Republic of Egypt, further demonstrating Algeria’s regional influence. This meeting underscores Algeria’s pivotal role in promoting coordinated regional approaches to address corruption, within a political and diplomatic vision founded on partnership and integration.

The discussions focused on mechanisms for implementing the National Strategy for Transparency, Prevention, and the Fight against Corruption, particularly its initial phase. Emphasis was placed on the need to transition from theoretical frameworks to effective implementation tools. Messarati highlighted the importance of digital transformation as a central driver for modernizing the anti-corruption system. The discussions also covered the importance of good governance and modern governance practices.
