Thunderstorms Forecast Across Multiple Algerian Provinces

Algiers, December 18, 2025 – Several provinces across Algeria are bracing for significant thunderstorms, according to the National Meteorological Office. A weather alert indicates that the provinces of El Bayadh, Laghouat, Djelfa, Ghardaia, and El Meniaa are expected to receive rainfall ranging from 30 to 50 millimeters, with localized amounts potentially exceeding 70 millimeters.

The alert for these provinces is valid until 6:00 AM on Friday.

Another weather advisory forecasts rainfall for the provinces of Tiaret, Saida, Sidi Bel Abbes, Tlemcen, and Naama. Rainfall amounts in these areas are expected to range between 20 and 40 millimeters, with the alert remaining in effect until 3:00 AM on Friday.

The northern Tamanrasset region and Ain Salah are also predicted to experience thunderstorms, with rainfall accumulations between 20 and 30 millimeters. This alert is valid from 3:00 AM Thursday until 3:00 PM Thursday.

Furthermore, the provinces of Illizi, Ouargla, Touggourt, El Oued, El M’Ghair, Ouled Djellal, Biskra, southern Batna, and southern Khenchela are under a thunderstorm warning. These regions can expect rainfall between 20 and 40 millimeters, with some areas potentially receiving over 50 millimeters. This particular alert is valid from Thursday morning until 9:00 AM on Friday.
