Severe Thunderstorms Continue Across Several Algerian Provinces

Algiers, Algeria – Several provinces across Algeria are experiencing continued heavy rainfall and thunderstorms today, Friday, according to the national weather service. Significant rainfall amounts are expected, potentially leading to localized disruptions.

A special weather alert indicates that the provinces of Tamanrasset and In Salah will continue to experience thunderstorms with rainfall reaching up to 30 mm until 3:00 PM today. Residents are advised to exercise caution.

The alert also warns of ongoing, locally significant thunderstorms with potential rainfall exceeding 70 mm in the provinces of El Bayadh, Laghouat, Djelfa, Ghardaia, and El Menia. These conditions are expected to persist into this morning.

Thunderstorms with rainfall reaching up to 40 mm are also forecast for the provinces of Tiaret, Saida, Sidi Bel Abbes, Tlemcen, and Naama.

Furthermore, heavy rainfall exceeding 50 mm is anticipated until 9:00 AM in the provinces of Illizi, Ouargla, Touggourt, El Oued, El M’Ghair, Ouled Djellal, Biskra, Batna, and Khenchela. Citizens in these areas are urged to take necessary precautions.
