Algiers, December 19, 2025 – Algeria and Zimbabwe have reaffirmed their alignment on matters of mutual interest, particularly concerning just causes on the African continent and beyond. The confirmation came during bilateral talks held on Friday between Algeria’s Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, and Zimbabwe’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Amon Murwira.
According to a statement released by the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting served as an opportunity for both ministers to discuss the implementation of outcomes from the state visit of Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa to Algeria in July. The discussions also revisited the talks held between President Mnangagwa and Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune during that visit.
The two ministers further exchanged views on a range of regional issues of shared concern. Crucially, they emphasized the convergence of their countries’ positions when it comes to supporting just causes, most notably the Palestinian cause and the issue of Western Sahara.
This renewed commitment underscores the strong diplomatic ties between Algeria and Zimbabwe and highlights their shared dedication to promoting peace, security, and justice on the international stage. The discussions are expected to pave the way for increased cooperation between the two nations in various fields, further strengthening their bilateral relationship.
The meeting reinforces Algeria’s ongoing efforts to foster stronger relationships with African nations and to advocate for solutions to regional challenges based on principles of fairness and self-determination.
