Severe Thunderstorms and Hail Threaten Several Algerian Regions

DZWatch News has received reports of locally significant thunderstorms, potentially accompanied by hail, expected to impact several regions across Algeria today, Saturday.

A special weather advisory indicates rainfall amounts could reach up to 40mm in some areas, with a heightened risk of hail. The initial wave of inclement weather is expected to persist until 8 PM in the following wilayas: Ain Temouchent, Oran, Mostaganem, Chlef, Tipaza, Mascara, Relizane, Tissemsilt, and Ain Defla.

A separate advisory warns of locally significant thunderstorms impacting a second set of wilayas. These storms are anticipated to begin around 9 AM and continue until midnight, affecting the following areas: Algiers, Blida, Medea, Bouira, Boumerdes, Tizi Ouzou, Bejaia, M’Sila, Ouled Djellal, Djelfa, Laghouat, and Ghardaia.

Furthermore, the wilayas of Skikda, Annaba, El Tarf, and Guelma are forecast to experience locally significant thunderstorms starting at 6 PM, with the adverse weather conditions continuing until dawn on Sunday.

The weather service also anticipates locally significant thunderstorms to continue affecting the wilayas of Tlemcen and Sidi Bel Abbes until 3 PM today, Saturday.

Residents in the affected areas are advised to take necessary precautions and stay informed about weather updates.
