Ghardaia, Algeria – Tragedy struck the municipality of Ghardaia this morning as a gas leak resulted in the deaths of two women. The incident, attributed to carbon monoxide poisoning from a faulty water heater, occurred in the Hai El Hadj Messaoud area.
According to local Civil Protection services, they responded to an emergency call at 7:56 AM regarding two individuals suffering from carbon monoxide inhalation. Upon arrival at the scene in Hai El Hadj Messaoud, Ghardaia, first responders discovered two women in critical condition.
Sadly, both victims, aged 58 and 92, were pronounced dead at the scene. Their bodies were subsequently transported to the morgue at the local hospital.

Carbon monoxide is a colorless, odorless gas that can be deadly when inhaled. It is produced by the incomplete burning of fuels such as gas, wood, and propane.
