Minister Emphasizes Inspector Role in Education System Reform

Constantine, Algeria – Minister of National Education, Mohamed Seghir Saadaoui, presided over the National Conference of Inspectors focusing on ‘Evaluation Mechanisms and Performance Improvement.’ The conference brought together inspection bodies from all 71 directorates, education directors, and ministry officials.

The Ministry allocated the largest university residence in Constantine, along with several hotels and the city’s largest meeting hall, to host the event.

In his opening address, Minister Saadaoui called on inspectors to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the educational and inspection systems. He emphasized the need to improve inspection standards, restructure the inspection corps, and enhance working conditions for inspectors.

The Minister stressed the importance of identifying and addressing all challenges faced by inspectors. He affirmed that inspectors are a fundamental pillar of the ministry and have full authority to directly address issues without the need for intermediaries.

Minister Saadaoui stated that all efforts would be directed towards providing suitable conditions to ensure inspectors can effectively fulfill their responsibilities.

The conference aims to refine practices and develop employee capabilities, ultimately improving evaluation mechanisms and inspection effectiveness. The Minister highlighted the shift in the inspection system from mere oversight to guidance, support, and constructive evaluation, deeming it crucial for performance improvement.

He added that evaluating the performance of inspectors and educational stakeholders is essential for continuous reform.

Saadaoui emphasized the high regard for inspectors within the education sector, highlighting their responsibility to serve 12 million students. He underscored their crucial role in regulating teaching methods and maintaining classroom discipline.

The Minister described inspectors as the ‘nerve center’ of the education system, vital for maintaining balance and ensuring a successful start to the second academic term, especially in final-year classes. The Minister’s statements from Constantine reflect the state’s commitment to providing professional and social conditions for all employees and sectors within the education system.
