RCD Announces Return to Electoral Arena After 2021 Absence

Algiers – The Rally for Culture and Democracy (RCD) has announced its decision to participate in upcoming elections, marking a significant shift after a period of absence from the electoral landscape since 2021.

The decision was ratified by the party’s National Council, following extensive discussions on the current political climate and future prospects. The announcement signals a renewed focus on active political engagement for the RCD.

Rachid Hassani, the official spokesperson for the RCD, confirmed the decision via a statement on his official Facebook page. He stated that the National Council session, held in Algiers, culminated in a broad consensus to re-enter the political arena through electoral participation.

“The decision to participate received widespread support from members of the National Council,” Hassani noted, “reflecting an internal agreement on the necessity of returning to grassroots political action through elections.” The RCD had previously boycotted various electoral appointments since 2021.

The RCD’s return is expected to open a new chapter for the party, particularly amidst the ongoing political transformations in Algeria. Many political formations are currently reassessing their strategies and realigning their positions in anticipation of future electoral contests.

This move is seen by analysts as a potentially important development in the lead-up to future legislative and local elections. The RCD, historically a prominent voice in Algerian politics, will likely aim to regain its influence and contribute to the national discourse.

The party’s leadership is expected to outline its specific electoral strategy and platform in the coming weeks. The focus will likely be on addressing key issues facing Algerian citizens and proposing concrete solutions to pressing challenges.
