Minister Attaf Attends Libya Neighbors Meeting in Cairo

Cairo, Egypt – Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmed Attaf participated in a coordination meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Tripartite Mechanism of Libya’s Neighboring Countries (Algeria, Egypt, and Tunisia) held in Cairo this Saturday. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the second session of the African-Russian Partnership Forum at the ministerial level.

According to a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the discussions focused on strategies to enhance cooperation and coordination among the three nations to support stability and security in Libya. The ministers exchanged views on the latest developments in Libya and explored avenues for promoting a peaceful and inclusive political process.

The Tripartite Mechanism plays a crucial role in facilitating dialogue and finding common ground among Libyan stakeholders. Algeria, Egypt, and Tunisia share a vested interest in a stable and prosperous Libya, and the mechanism provides a platform for addressing shared challenges such as border security, counter-terrorism, and economic development.

Minister Attaf reaffirmed Algeria’s commitment to supporting a Libyan-led and Libyan-owned political process, emphasizing the importance of national reconciliation and the need to avoid external interference. He reiterated Algeria’s readiness to work with all Libyan parties to achieve a lasting solution to the crisis.
